Why We Started Built on Waste
After more than a decade in the waste industry, we’ve seen the real work it takes to run portable toilets and roll-off dumpsters. This post shares why we launched Built on Waste — a no-fluff blog for the ones who keep the dirty work moving.

This industry doesn’t get enough credit.
People laugh when you say you work with portable toilets or roll-off dumpsters — until they’re the ones calling you in a panic at 6 a.m. for an emergency drop.
We’ve spent over a decade in this business. We’ve managed crews, ran routes, trained drivers, handled pissed-off customers, and helped grow a company from the ground up.
We’ve done it in 100-degree heat. In mud. During hurricanes. Through burnout.
And what we learned is this:
No one outside this industry really knows what it takes.
That’s why we started Built on Waste.
This blog is for the real ones — the techs, the dispatchers, the managers, the haulers — anyone who keeps this industry moving.
You’ll find:
Field-tested tips
Lessons from the grind
Raw stories that don’t make it to LinkedIn
If you work in this business — or want to — this space is for you.
